  Camp Fire CAMPS

Space

Camp Fire provides opportunities for children and youth to be outdoors to learn, explore, and play together, while developing a lifelong appreciation and respect for nature and the outdoor environment.
 
Camp Fire provides day and overnight camps, trip and travel programs, and adventure challenge and environmental education sessions. These provide opportunities for youth to be part of a community that utilizes outdoor activities to stimulate their curiosity and desire to learn.

The heart of Camp Fire USA Iowana Council's camping program is Camp Hitaga, located on 161 acres of rolling woodland and prairie along the Wapsipinicon river, about 20 miles north of Cedar Rapids.

Camp Hitaga offers opportunities for boys and girls, youth and adults:

* Traditional Summer Resident Camp
    -  Classic Camp with a focus on a different theme each week
    -  Adventure Camp with a focus on Survivor Skills or Canoeing
    -  Stirrups & Saddles horse program
    -  Leadership Training and Counselor in Training programs

* Spring and Fall programs focused on fun and education, for example:
    -  Outdoor Progression teaches outdoor living skills to Camp Fire youth
    -  Parent/Child Overnights offer a taste of camp life for families
    -  Halloween Trails offer spooky fun for all ages

* Programming for other groups who visit Camp Hitaga, for example:
    - Challenge Course facilitation
    - Archery instruction
    - Arts & Crafts, Pottery, Copper working, etc.
    - Environmental Education

* Facilities for use by other groups to implement their own programs.
    - Hitaga Archery Club leagues and regional shoots
    - Society for Creative Anachronisms medieval cooking contests, etc.
    - Church groups retreats
    - Family Reunions
