"Living and growing in the sun." This unit used to consist of wall tents similar to those used in Amikanna.  A-frames have been constructed in their place.  This is the first A-frame built in 1993.  The A-frames have electric lights.  Shabonda's bathroom is called the "Paris Opera House".  Showers are available in  WoHeLo.

Shabonda Unit Song

On top of a hill 'neath the blanket of stars
The tents of Shabonda lie still.
And the moon shines above,
keeping watch o'er those
Who have worked and have played with a will.

At Hitaga our days are filled to the brim
With adventures that never grow old,
But he night brings a calmness of body and soul
To the campers who wear scarves of gold.

The first A-frame has been dedicated in the memory of Mr. Henry Eck, past president of Iowana Council, past president of Cedar Rapids Exec Club.

The A-frame on the right was dedicated in the memory of a Camp Fire Leader, Barb Mullarky.

The newest A-frame is dedicated to Mr. Shimberg, a soldier missing in action from the Viet Nam War.  His body was recently located and properly buried.
